The Rofeno Monastery is a unique architectural jewel set in the Tuscan hills, located in the Crete Senesi area. It's about 20 kilometers southeast of Siena, 100 km from Florence and 200 km from Rome. 

The property includes a church, restored in the external and structural parts, a thermal power plant, an artificial lake for the collection of rainwater and about 3 hectares of land, richly planted with, olive trees, holm oaks, mulberries, laurels, and pomegranates. Nearby is the Monte Oliveto Maggiore, whose archive still kept important documents concerning the life of the Abbey. The Romanesque chapel dedicated to Santa Maria and the SS. Giacomo and Cristoforo (to be restored), once housed a precious altarpiece by Ambrogio Lorenzetti, depicting St. Michael the Archangel killing the dragon, a splendid wooden tabernacle and an ancient crucifix. Today these works are kept inside the Corboli di Asciano museum, easily reachable from the Abbadia.
